Where is L'OR coffee from?

Ground coffee is made from coffee beans that are roasted, ground and then packed. The ground coffee is then brewed in one of three ways:

  1. The filter cafetiere allows you to prepare a large amount of coffee quickly. The water passes slowly through the coffee in the filter, as the molecules  infuse with the water. This produces coffee with an aromatic and slightly bitter taste.

  2. The Italian Cafetiere/percolator/Mokka pot forces boiling water through compressed coffee that is loaded into the base of the appliance. The coffee that is produced is full-blooded and aromatic.

  3. The French Press is quick and easy to use. Ground coffee is put into the cafetiere, then simmering water is delicately poured onto it. The coffee should brew for between 30 seconds and 2 minutes, depending on the strength you prefer. Once it has brewed, the plunger is pressed down so the grounds are separated from the coffee. This method satisfies the most discerining coffee connoisseurs.

Which to choose? This depends on how fine the ground bean is. The finer the grind, the shorter the brewing time can be, to ensure flavours and aromas are released from the coffee.

What is instant coffee?

Instant coffee is made from dried coffee extract. It's quick to prepare with just hot water. Put one to two teaspoons of instant coffee into a cup, top up with hot water, stir and enjoy.

The quality of the blend makes the difference in brewing and although instant coffee has a different flavour to freshly ground beans, there can still be layers of taste and aroma if it's made with a quality blend.

Instant coffee is also convenient as it lasts longer than ground coffee.

What is a coffee bean?

Coffee beans are generally freshly ground in an automatic machine. Pressurised water runs through the grinding and produces an intense espresso coffee, creamy with body. This process produces the smoothness and richness of the aromas of the best coffees. Therefore, the quality is excellent. Coffee beans can also be ground in a separate mill and used in a cafetiere.
